Bug Hotels
Welcome to our penultimate Forest School Friday blog of the term.
Today year 5, showed me their building skills. Well, building skills for our little friends the mini beasts and bugs of the world.
Bug Hotel
We reused and recycled some old bird boxes that we had here at school. They were a bit dishevelled and broken. So we have turned them into something useful. We transformed the boxs into a bug hotels.
The years 5's worked in groups to get the job done. We talked about which materials would be most useful and how to place them in the boxes.
We used some recyclable materials as well as natural materials which we forraged in our school garden/forest school area.
I have to say, they all turned out great!
We finished just in time as the rain came down. In the warmth of our lovely outdoor classroom we talked about some interesting bug facts. My favourite was about a flea. Did you know, if a flea was the same size as a human it would be able to jump as high as Mount Everest? Wow, I think that is pretty amazing!
