Forest Geometry
I have had a fantastic day with year 3. Today we made our very own Geoboards. We used wood cookies, nails, wooden mallets and elastic bands.
The children created various shapes on their boards. We had some very creative shapes - a house, star and a heart.
We learnt that in nature we have shapes all around us. Even trees and leaves have specific shape names. Some trees are 'vase' shaped and there is a even a tree that is a 'weeping' shape. Could you guess what tree that is?
The children were really safe with how they handled their tools which impressed me. Everyone worked well in teams and showed great patience. Its always lovely to see these qualities in the children.
Popcorn was a success and a great hit. To quote one child, ' this is better than cinema popcorn!'
