Headteacher's Reward Afternoon - Chinese Art
With Chinese New Year just around the corner (29 Jan 25), our reward afternoon had a Chinese art theme to it this term. I was once taught be a Chinese Calligrapher the basics of how to use a brush and ink to create traditional Bamboo paintings; it has been a few years, but I was able to remember much of what she taught me so that I could share them with the children. We followed 5 steps which was rounded off by finishing the paintings off with a traditional 'Chinese Chop' sign off emblem. Usually, this would be a form of painter's signature (in the red square) but we used a potato print of the word 'Snake' 蛇 (Shé), to mark the start of the Year of the Snake in 2025.
The children were so focussed - from our 4 year old winners to the 11 year old. The finished paintings were spectacular too!
